Assembly Instructions:

1.Barrel Platform
Prepare a platform for the filter. Be sure to make a space for the drain pipe underneath
the barrel. We have used cement for our platform. You can use 4 cinder blocks, stacked
2x2. Space them so the drain pipe can set between the top blocks. Cut a Circle out of a
piece of 3/4 plywood. Notch it for the drain. Place it between the blocks and the barrel.
This will help stabilize the platform.

2.
Cutting your Barrel's Top
Using a jig saw, cut the top out of your barrel from the topside, being careful to save
the cut out. You will use the cutout to hold the gravel off the bottom of
the barrel.

3. Prepare Barrel lid
Drill 3/8" holes close together all over the lid cutout. The water needs to drain
freely through the lid. The lid will be supported by the milk crate. Set aside.

4. Outlet Fittings **Important
Note!! The alignment of the holes. Consider where the drain expels water, there will
be 55 gallons of water flowing from the barrel at clean up time, at least once a week.
Make sure the area has good drainage. Also consider the overflow hole in relationship to
where it will return to the pond. Measure 4" down from the top of the barrel, Use one
of the threaded male couplings as a pattern and mark a hole. Cut out with jigsaw or hole
saw. You want this fitting to fit snug, so cut carefully

5. Outlet fittings
Place a rubber gasket on the coupling, and screw it into the hole. Keep the smooth side of
the coupling to the outside of the barrel. This is where your water outlet pipe fits. |
6. Outlet fittings
Place another rubber gasket on the coupling and screw on a nut, tighten firmly
