Cut Screen

13. Screen
Cut the screen into a circle, making it at least 20" larger than the barrel. This will allow for a 10" overhang. More overhang is better than less overhang.   Be generous.

**Important Note!!
The screen will "cup" the gravel. It should be carefully held up while pouring the gravel into the barrel. If this is not done, the gravel will fall to the bottom of your barrel and will not work properly.

Water overflow pipes

14. Overflow Pipes
Measure from the top coupling to the place where you want the water to fall into the pond. Cut a piece of 2" pipe and insert it into the coupling and glue.

Set it all up

15. Set up
Fill with gravel, be careful to keep the screen edges up along the sides of the barrel. The barrel will appear to have more gravel in it then it actually does, remember the milk crate is holding the gravel about 10" off the bottom of the barrel, creating a water reservoir on the bottom.
